The sun paints
the side of
the boathouse
glossy white,
splattering
the lake with light
that only night
can wash away.
The trees gather
around the shore
admiring their reflections,
leaves shimmering.
My boat follows
the water’s path,
unanchored.
I love the trees, lake, sun,
this day, this time
and I can almost believe
they love me back
when the wind sighs
and caresses my cheek
without a word,
the way lovers
so often do.
love the photo 🙂
Glad you do.
🙂
you are being courted by your moment..so sweet.
Courting is a good way to say it; it may not be true, but sometimes it feels that way.
A very lovely boquet of words. The photo reminds me of the places of my youth. Of course, I knew nothing of having my cheek wordlessly caressed back then.
Now I’m sure you have plenty of experience with wordlessly wiped cheeks. Especially in the middle of the night, during meals, and other inopportune times.
Mmmmmmm….. nice imagery.
Thanks, Maria.
I would very much like to believe that nature loves us back!
Sometimes at least.
They are both beautiful – the poem and the photo.
Thank you.
Can I love this. Like just isn’t enough.
I’m so glad you like it.
a beautiful poem… you’ve started my day today, with such positive thoughts and feelings.
I’m glad if I added something positive to your day.
I’ve been especially drawn to the personification of the trees in your poem this morning — trees admiring their reflections in the water. Oh yeah…this is so good. 🙂
Like so many others, I am drawn to trees.
Nothing better than a summer day and a lake, and when they are together-magic!
If you add fishing, it’s perfection.
This is YUMMY!! Somehow I missed this post. Gorgeous images! You paint…but, with words.
Thank you for the kind words. I am happy you like it.
Thanks for the trip. I’ve returned refreshed.
Glad it refreshed you.
